Team roping puts different demands on a saddle than calf roping, barrel racing, or any other event — and the Diamond S Series Team Roper is built specifically around those demands, not adapted from a general-purpose tree. Slone Saddles has been building custom western saddles in Cuero, Texas for nearly 40 years, and every Diamond S Team Roper is constructed to order for the horse, the rider, and the run. Built for the Demands of Team Roping

Team roping saddles are designed slightly different than calf roping saddles. The front end isn’t as low, but the saddle still holds the vertical balance feature that makes it secure and easy to ride. Because a header sits back down after the catch to get their dally and control the horse around the corner, the Diamond S Team Roper has a slightly deeper seat than its calf roping counterpart — built for that moment, not just the run up to it.

The horn has a slight lip on the back side to help keep the dally from popping off when it gets a little too close to the top. Every rigging is double-riveted to the skirts so the rigging and skirt work together, creating a more even pull on the tree and a more secure seat on the horse’s back. The tree itself is reinforced in the areas that see the most stress, built for years of hard, competitive use.

Seat Sizes and Tree Fit

The Diamond S Team Roper is available in seat sizes from 12″ to 16″, in half-inch increments, so the fit is built around the rider — not the closest size on a shelf. Tree fit is customized to the horse using the Diamond S Roper Tree as the base. If you’re not sure what tree fit your horse needs, our saddle design guide walks through how to measure and choose correctly before you build.

Leather and Customization Options

Every Diamond S Team Roper starts with Golden leather as the standard finish, with Chestnut and Chocolate available as upgrades. For riders who want something further upgraded, Native Leather and Herman Oak are also available. From there, the saddle is fully customizable — skirt pattern, tooling degree, seat style, horn style, and binders can all be selected to match how you ride and what you want your saddle to look like. The full range of options is available through our Design a Saddle process.

Built to Last — 10-Year Tree Warranty

Every Diamond S Series saddle is backed by a 10-year tree warranty, built into a saddle designed by a team that knows exactly what competition demands. Slone Saddles has served as the official saddle sponsor of the National High School Rodeo Association (NHSRA) and National Junior High School Rodeo Association (NJHSRA) for more than 15 years, and founder Tod Slone brings nearly 40 years in the rodeo industry to every saddle that leaves the shop.
